Don’t Get Banned – New 20% Rule For Facebook Cover Images

January 15th, 2013 by Liz

As of today Facebook have implemented a new rule for facebook cover images. The new rule is – cover images may not include more than 20% text.

So What Does 20%  Look Like?

As you can see this doesn’t leave you a lot of room to get your message across and of course all the old rules still apply, such as:

  • No price or purchase information, such as “40% off” or “Download Here”;
  • No contact information such as a website address, email, mailing address, or information. All of this information should go in your Page’s “About” section;
  • No references to Facebook features or actions, such as “Like” or “Share” or an arrow pointing from the cover photo to any of these features;
  • No calls to action, such as “Get it now” or “Tell your friends.”

So check you cover image and make any changes that are needed as the last thing you want is for Facebook to remove your image or even worse, take down your page for not following the rules.
